What

Logo, website

The thing between ceiling and wall.

The decorative element between the ceiling and the wall, which is often seen in older buildings, is called stucco/plaster - in Danish: Stuk.

With around 10 years of experience in the stucco/plastering industry, it was time for Mads Wollerup to open a new chapter and start his own stucco/plasterer company: Wollerup Stuk.

In 2021, Mads reached out to me because he needed a logo and a website.

The logo

There were 2 requirements for the new logo:

1. The logo needed to reflect Wollerup Stuk’s profession.

2. The letter ‘W’ and a hawk needed to be central elements.

So I started sketching my thoughts roughly on a piece of paper.

I liked the idea of the hawk on top of the W and the decorative left part of the W, which was supposed to reflect the stucco part. So I went with that.

Wollerup Stuk wasn't completely happy with the decorative left side of the 'W', so I replaced it with a roman column — an iconic symbol of classical architecture that's often used in stucco work.

It turned out perfectly.

And that became the final logo.

The website

For Wollerup Stuk, it was important to create a website that looked professional and trustworthy. I achieved this by designing a website that is simple, aesthetic, and invites customers into the world of stucco.

User-friendliness and clarity were key elements in the design process since the stucco industry can be complex. It had to be easy for potential customers to navigate, understand and encounter important CTAs.

To keep the simple and elegant look, the color scheme consists of a primary black color, with a secondary brown that symbolizes the natural tones in stucco.

Since there aren't many stucco icons available on the internet, I created a pack of illustrated stucco icons that complimented the website and should create a better understanding of the stucco language.
